Welcome to Vintage and Things!! This is where I will talk (or should I say ramble?) about all things vintage, and many things not so vintage. This first post will be completely dedicated to the opening of my brand new shop on Etsy, which is truly the merging of a couple of special dreams of mine. I have always loved all things relating to art, fashion, and living creatively, and I am truly blessed to be able to pursue these things in the way I am now.

I want to start out by saying that this is not just a business, but also a way to give back to the community. I plan to give 20% of my profits to someone in need- and I don't mean through a charity. Whether it's helping a single mother buy diapers, bringing groceries to a widow, or supporting a missionary, I want each dollar to end up directly serving someone in need.

This is where the name Dodeka Vintage comes in. In Greek the word Dodeka means 12. I chose this name because I want to model not only my business, but my life, after Romans 12. Here's just a small snippet:

"9 Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. 10 Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. 11 Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. 12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. 13 Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality."
                                                                          -Romans 12:9-13

Good stuff, right?!?!?

I truly believe that as long as I am involving and trusting God with every aspect of my life, that he will guide me along this path.

Since opening my doors in December I have already added over 40 items, ranging from 1950's dresses to 1980's sweaters, with the hopes to add many more over the next few months. I love scouring local thrift stores and estate sales for hidden treasures... and there are so many of them hidden around here!
